Kestrelstep carries herself with dignity and respect, yet has a casual air about her. Unless she's mad or upset, any cat would find her as approachable. Her steps are often quite long, and it's as if she soars for a split second with each step. This is mainly because of her hind legs, which are packed with muscle.



She is a thickly built cat, surrounded by strong, defined muscle. Even so, she doesn't look overly muscular, as her muscles are well rounded and femininity shows in the curves of her body. Her whole look in general is quite feminine. Small, dainty paws. Slim, fragile-looking legs. Warm, inviting eyes.



Neither long nor short, her fur rounds out her muscle and only adds to her feminine look. It's soft to the touch, but requires a bit of grooming to keep it this way. Burrs and other shrubbery seem to have an easy time making their home in her fur, but she keeps it clean so this is not normally a problem.



Moderately large ears sit atop a thin, soft head. The features in her face are defined but blur together to make her appear innocent. Her small, round muzzle and small pink and black nose only add to this. Her eyes are the only item that offset this image. The both is a bright amber. They project a determined, strong, and protective feeling.



Black, white, and orange tabby are flecked randomly through her body. Her pelt is caught somewhere between calico and tortoiseshell. They are all evenly balanced throughout her body. Thick, long, and pure white whiskers stretch out from her white muzzle and above her eyes. The inner color of her ears tends to lean more towards pink, with patches of black, much like her nose.

• Fair - Even if she has a solid plan or idea in her head, she will listen to others input. She knows that even what she thinks is right will often be wrong. The only way to find out is to listen to others ideas. Their thoughts and musings often entertain her, and she likes to see things from all perspectives. She is constantly trying to better herself and her ideas, and is willing to open herself to new things to do so. This leads her to be unbiased and impartial.
• Passionate - When Kestrelstep becomes dedicated to something, she will stick with is, with an undying passion. Not many projects will go unfinished. The only way this will happen is if she comes to find the plan is faulty, or will hurt, rather than help, her clan. Included in this, she can be very caring and compassionate. Especially to those she loves. Her passion is often shown in her eyes,as with most of her emotions.
• Altruistic -  Adding to her passion, she is very altruistic. This is an almost selfless concern for others. When she is hurt, she will be more concerned for her clan than for herself. Their safety and welfare is a major priority to her. Her keen sense of loyalty and duty only fuels this trait. Unlike most, she doesn't crave the credit of doing something. She will do it just so she knows she has done it, and that someone benefited for what she, herself, has done.
• Understanding/Observant - Her most defined trait is her observant. She is faster to notice even the smallest things, and can describe them in detail, despite where they are by word or visual. This includes noticing things many others don't. 
• Persuasive - She is good with words. Her wording will describe just what she means and she can often persuade someone to agree with her, though she tends not to use this.

• Ambitious - No matter how big or small the task at hand may seem, Kestrelstep will want to succeed and do the best she can. Any type of failure or rejection will deeply wound her pride and possibly embarrass her. It isn't her goal to feel this way when she doesn't succeed, but she does anyway. However, she isn't as hard on her clan-mates as she is on herself. If someone doesn't succeed in something, she is more understanding since she has failed before.
• Rebellious - Since she was a small kit, Kestrelstep has been very rebellious. She does things her own way and doesn't care what anyone things. Yes, she is open-minded, but when a decision is made and a plan is followed through will, she will block out any negativity. This trait has thinned out through her life, as she became accustomed to reality. But she still indulges herself and will do something rebellious.
• Bold - Above most traits, she is very bold, and isn't afraid to do things her own way. Courage and bravery mean a lot to her. There aren't many things that scare her. Marching into battle, even leading, doesn't bother her and she won't even flinch at the thought. In another sense of the word, she is very forward and brazen. Many would call this 'sassy', but she just calls it honesty. Meeting in the middle, we'll classify it as blunt.
• Expressing -  This she-cat knows how to fall hopelessly in love, but can never know how to admit it, and often tries to hide it if it's 'more than best friends' relationship. 
• Grudges - Yes, this she-cat holds her grudges. She does have a limit, it usually isn't easy to cross, though if you do, well, she would forgive you after a bunch of apologies, but to be honest, she doesn't.

the history

Kestrelstep’s parents, Duskmist and Sagewhisker, met when they were warriors. They were good friends for nearly half their like, but didn't develop feelings until later in life. They waited a while to have kits, and only produced a single litter as her mother, Duskmist, died during birthing. The size of the litter, as well as birthing complications left no way for her to be saved.



The kits, in order of birth, are Featherkit, Dawnkit, Kestrelkit, Mistkit - in honor of their mother - and Jadekit, who died with their mother. The litter was raised by a queen, Frostleaf, who only produced a single kit. Their adopted littermate, Gingerkit, was only 3 days older than them.



Frostleaf, a pure white cat with amber eyes, was very sweet to them, and raised them as her own. She often told stories of their mother - as they had been close friends- , so it was as if they knew her, when they really never met her. Each kit sees Frostleaf as their own mother, but holds their birth mother in a special place in their heart.



Their father was distant for the first few months of their lives, but loved them just the same. You could see it in his eyes. Many say he was just torn over their mother’s death, which was the obvious truth.



She was the leader of the six kits. Since a young age, she held a maturity and strong sense of responsibility. Even so, her rebellious nature got them in trouble quite a few times. Despite this, they got away with more 'quests', as they called them, then they were caught doing.



Apprentice-ship was a blur to Kestrelpaw. She remembers her mentor, a new warrior, as blunt, but with a good sense of humor. She had a crush on him, but never told. All the lessons of hunting and fighting flew by and she was made into a warrior.



As soon as her warrior ceremony was over, Kestrelstep felt a strong sense of accomplishment. She promised from then on to live her life as a warrior to the fullest. Not only for herself, but for her mother, whose life was stole.
