SWANWOLF
to say that a cat was not loyal required plenty of useful prove and just the smallest amount of wording. to lose who had met the older tom; they knew he had be just and kind, and of course; had a way with words that singled he was as good as any pureblooded cat out there. it was said however; that his true parents were ivoryfang and copperbelly; but to those few who had heard from his maw; knew he had been a half-blooded cat. 'mustn't you be lazy like your father.' his uncle would have joked; but in these days he had proven himself a worthy cat; able to stand up for his beliefs and those of others.
but that was not what ailed him today. no, he fought a more inner battle; the one that requested his own clan leader to be a respected medicine cat. it went beyond his traditions; and while he had not wanted to see the former deputy before leader; he had not expected the taller and slimmer medicine cat to jump on the bandwagon to become leader. tallstar had interesting aspect to the clan of the wind, and something he struggled to understand and take lightly. he knew that it was okay; that with a peace loving cat as leader, they may just walk out of this forest wide problem unharmed, but something always felt it's long claws hooked in his fur; so tight that even he couldn't shake it.
but that was a thought for another day; he would muse to himself; a cat shouldn't worry about such things. eat, live, love and protect. a smile crossed his maw as he rose from the nest that he laid in; the warriors den had become a back drop to the many images that past by his eyes as he witness moons of memories flood his senses until finally he shook it from his head and touched noses to his love; gorseflower. 'i shall be back before dusk.' he would meow; before pushing through the entrance and out into the barely lit clearing. the dawn patrol themselves were awaking and readying themselves; as was a few of the mentor to apprentices; but that did not capture his interest. he would bow his head and begin his way to wards the entrance of camp; fur still messy but clean of it's dirty appearance.
that also would not last longer then a few moments; as the older tom padded from the entrance and onto the moors; he would drop to his belly and begin a daily ritual that he had come to pass himself. being a white cat upon the open moors had sat poorly with him as an apprentice; as any prey or predator would see him instantly among the neutral colors of the territory. so with a few rolls and rubs against the rough dirt; the tom lifted himself once more; dirty as the soil itself; from the ground and began his path into the open moors. 'a few rabbits hopefully.' he mused as he lifted his maw towards the sky and drank in the air. for a few moments it was silent; or as silent as the moors could be as sound traveled farther here then it did in the woodlands. the soft meows of the dawn patrol were making their way, away from him to the left and the the left the sound of the gorge could faintly be made out.
his eyes flashed suddenly right as the sight of a small rustle of grass drew his attention. paws pressed firmly to the ground he lowered himself to observe the creature that was so foolishly making it's way towards him; when suddenly the long floppy ears poked through followed by beady little black eyes. swanwolf's breath stopped with a hitch as the animal turned it's brown head from left to right before finally spotting him. his own heart seemed to slow as the rabbit took in his appearance and with a second to long on swanwolf's part; the rabbit turned tails and fled into the grass. 'for starclan's sake!' he yowled, before giving chase; long white legs taking large leaps then most windclanners; and even as he neared the rabbit; he could feel the impending tumble coming.
his teeth sank into the rabbit's scruff just as it was about to make a sharp left turn; causing both swanwolf and the young rabbit to go tumbling and rolling. a few grunts later swanwolf lifted his head from the ground in which he landed and a thankful grin grew over his face as the sound of the gorge sounded much closer then before. the rabbit's pitiful, painful yelps for help seemed to catch his attention as well; for as quick as he realized his prey was still alive, swanwolf killed it with as much grace as he could muster. 'thank you starclan for this meal.' he meowed before burying it.
'it is a beautiful sight.' he would meow softly; looking out over the open gorse as the sound of rushing water eased him.
