short descriptionlithe brown and white tom with light blue eyes
physical descriptionSlender and long, beetle was built for agility and stealth. His fur is short, mostly white with a brown 'cap' covering his head and ears. Along his back and tail is a dusty upper coat of light brown. He keeps his coat immaculately clean, sometimes "fixing" it when there isn't a even speck of dust on it; StarClan wasn't kind when they gave him natural tan markings. His eyes are a faded blue and his whiskers long and clear. He has a bit of a feminine appearance due to his face structure, eyes, and light build; something he was never really bothered with out of the laundry list of other things about himself that do.

the past
the historyBeetle-ear grew up with two older sisters and a sweet, caring mother. He had a healthy kithood, tussling and joking with his siblings and having a carefree, happy manner. As he got a older, he had a broad sense of curiosity, and he was always full of a million questions to ask everyone, particularly elders who's stories enthralled him. Beetlekit's father was never around, and he wasn't even told his name. This wouldn't bother him until his apprenticeship, but until then, he satisfied himself with enjoying a time of no responsibilities and adornment by the rest of the Clan. Occasionally, his sisters would enter passionate and vicious fights, and the passive Beetlekit would have to settle it before they ripped each others' ears off.
Beetle-ear's apprenticeship had a very rocky beginning. He was assigned to a sweet, young she-cat named Shadedfur who he was utterly horrible to along with anyone else who attempted to get close to him. She was startled and upset by his toxic behavior, not used to being hated by anyone because of her kindness. She didn't give up on him, however, unlike his two sisters and the other apprentices who avoided him. She put in great effort to break and understand Beetlepaw's nastiness, and had many conversations with his mother on how to treat him. Most frustrating to her was that, no matter how sincere and open she was with Beetlepaw, she could never grasp the reason for his bitter tongue, though assumed it had something to do with an absent father. He barely even tried in his training and scorned warrior code, kitty-pets, rouges, and plenty of other things with eye rolls and rants. Beetlepaw had trouble accepting the reasons for his own behavior, which was his growing up and learning that his odd feelings and crushes were never aimed at she-cats. He tried in vain to convince himself otherwise, to stare at pretty she-cats and appreciate their beauty enough to love them, but he couldn't and developed a strong self hatred for what he viewed as a broken feature. He had no figure he felt could understand this, and so bottled it up and took out his anger on any passing cat who tried to befriend him. However, slowly, with each passing moon, Beetle's volatile front broke down and his viciousness turned to somber silence. He began to work towards becoming a better hunter and warrior, and his mentor's words slowly sunk in. He still had trouble coping with and healthily letting out his emotions, so took to hiding them instead of being vicious. This made him a ticking bomb, but at least he was now approachable and not a moody badger all the time. His catching up period meant he would become a warrior a few moons late at 15, and many apprentices (including his two sisters) did not forget his seemingly unwarranted treatment of them. Beetle's mother and mentor remained strong and supportive of him, however, and he would be very grateful of their extended patience and kindness throughout his life.
It was as a young warrior that Beetle-ear had a a much smoother existence. He started to warm up a little and made a friend or two, and began to find comfort in work. It got his mind of things, helped him focus, and distracted from his internal stresses, which, at the time, the most prevalent being his loneliness. So, he took his duties to the Clan seriously and was internally glad to go on whatever extra hunt or patrol was needed. Beetle-ear's feelings of solitude were wiped away when he started talking to Lizardfang on one morning hunt. He was an older tom, bulky and kind, and Beetle-ear never paid him much attention before. He grew to admire his strength, courage, and nobleness, along with his bombastic laugh that rumbled like a lion's. It didn't take very long for Beetle-ear to develop strong feelings for him, loving the time he spent with him and making him laugh. Lizardfang enjoyed Beetle as a close companion, bringing out his 'better' (something many clan cats didn't believe existed before) and encouraging him to develop his own viewpoints and listen to others. He also was the only one capable of calming Beetle-ear when his emotions swelled out of control (which, at the time, was often). Beetle-ear became reliant on Lizardfang for practically everything, trying to spend every waking moment with him and shutting everyone else out. Lizardfang, pitying him so and not sensing it was anything beyond platonic, didn't have the heart to cut off the unhealthy attachment. It wasn't until the 'surprise' announcement that Lizardfang's mate (who?) was pregnant that realization dawned on Beetle-ear and he bitterly cut off even speaking rights with his ex friend. The warrior then went through a period of trying to better himself on his own, working at keeping himself under control when his emotions swelled and extending a listening ear to more than one tom. However, though it taught him independence, he had trouble trusting others as much as he could, and became more reserved, particularly with his crushes. Dare he grow attached to another tom, and he internally isn't planning to let them go so easily, nor trust them quite as much.
Beetle-ear received his first apprentice at a later age. His name was Snakepaw, and he was, much to Beetle's bitterness, Lizardfang's oldest son. Beetle-ear let out quite a few unnecessary remarks and scoldings to the poor tom, and had a generally bad attitude around him. Snakepaw sensed he didn't like him, and became so fed up one day he directly confronted him. Unable to come up with a reasonable answer for his behavior, Beetle-ear felt a wave of guilt and apologized, and after that, they got along well. He easily disconnected Snakepaw, who was lithe, clever, and reserved, from his father and trained him to the best of his abilities. He even started developing a bit of fatherly affection for him, proud with his every achievement and advising him whenever he asked for it. They found themselves both cynical and with similar senses of humor, so often they'd jest together about other cats or rant about the ridiculousness of some new Clan drama. When Snakepaw became a warrior of the name Snakestrike, their friendship continued, and Beetle-ear was happy to have a strong, platonic bond.about you
