Opposite Sides {Tag Ravenpaw}

ravenpaw that was very disrespectful of you! as a medicine cat you should know better. you swore an oath, ravenpaw, an oath that you blatantly broke tonight with your attitude.

i took an oath to know the herbs, store them, treat wounded and sick clan cats, assist queens, check up regularly on the health of clan cats, visit the moonstone, seek guidance from starclan, interpret prophecies and omens, train an apprentice, bear knowledge, and visit starclan. i broke no oath tonight, milkfur. however, i cannot say the same of yourself. the black cat said coolly, not even dipping her head in greeting as she looked at the white warrior in front of her. my attitude was properly in place. starclan shows no signs of anger towards what i did. my respect does not go to you, it goes to starclan and what i believe is right, contrary to what you may think. of course, you don't think much-- if you did, you would have acted differently to honor the warrior code. 

as a leader, i have to show respect to all cats. if i help one outside, word will get out that there is a clan worth joining. ravenpaw we have so few warriors and apprentices as it is! we have less than any of the other clans!

respect only to clan cats. a "clan worth joining." with so many outsiders-- it is a clan worth leaving! she snarled, starclan did not mean for this to happen. the four clans reject the soft life of outsiders. there is no need to pity them. we challenge them, not tell them to seek shelter within our borders. warriors and apprentices are only worthy if they are from riverclan-- do not taint our blood with the filth of the outsiders.

i don't even know if silverfur chose right when naming me leader of riverclan.

she didn't. if you were the right choice, starclan would have told me. but i lied out there to protect you. i will never lie again if i am protecting such a pathetic excuse of a leader.

but i will not have disrespectful cat undermining what i am doing. you are the medicine cat and you are responsible for healing the injured...

i am not disrespectful, milkfur. that is you, for disrespecting the code that has been upheld by loyal riverclanners for moons now. i am doing what is right. i am responsible only for healing injured clan cats. that was my oath. i am keeping it. you are not keeping yours.

oh ravenpaw. if there were an injured kit out there in the wild with no one to care for it would you just let it die? you said you won't help any outside cats, does this include kits as well?

she gave a laugh, knowing what milkfur was doing as she looked at her with out even flinching. kits were supposed to extract sympathy- milkfur wanted to win. she wanted to be right. ravenpaw would give none of that to her. no, i would not let it die if it was a clan cat. the warrior code says “no warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is from a different clan.” but this is only speaking of clan cats, dear. if it were an outsider, a rogue, a loner, or a kittypet. it does not matter. they do not matter to the clans, and they do not deserve any sympathy or help from the paws that starclan guide. i don’t expect you to understand, dear. what do you know about any of this? nothing.

the black she-cat calmly smiled, looking at the pacing and the irritation of the white warrior as she looked into the green eyes that drilled into her. they did not pierce her, instead, she narrowed her yellow eyes-- her gaze burning flames onto the white pelt, as if scorching them to turn them into blackness. my role as medicine cat is to follow the code that starclan has set down for me. i am doing just that. however, you are not. you are rejecting the soft life and you have a weak heart for those that starclan rejects. i will not stand for that, i will not betray starclan and the warrior code and my oath for some pleas that a pathetic little leader who has no guidance from starclan nor any experience tell me to do. i am doing the right thing. you are not.

you dare call me mousebrain? i know the stories, but ever since then, our bloodlines have been pure. that is the way of the warrior life. yes, we defend our borders. those cats who need help are only accepted if they are clan cats, sweetheart. those who have no regard for the law are to be turned away. you should know this as well. yes, i know they would. she said calmly. ravenpaw raised her head as she laughed-- the bells ringing through the frigid air. milkfur was pathetic

you have no say in this. it is starclan’s will and you do not have the power to take that away from me. you do not know anything about our ancestors-- and i have more training than you ever will in your lifetime. she said in a cool, even voice, as milkfur’s anxiety pulsed through her ears. you are anxious. and if you were proper leader-- you wouldn’t be. you have no power over me. i have power over you, the word of starclan is heard through the whispers of my dreams. any signs placed in front of my nose, you wouldn’t be able to see because you have no faith in myself. how can someone be leader when you have no faith in the code that you vowed to protect, the oath that i swore to keep, and the paws that starclan guides me.

as milkfur whirled, ravenpaw kept her calm, her yellow gaze boring into the eyes of the furious warrior. what a sight to be seen, pathetic. honestly. the she-cat couldn’t even keep her cool. it would be a matter of days before the warrior decided to throw herself off the cliff like lionstar did. starclan doesn’t have to, but do you know why they do? because they trust me. any cat who is smart enough to know the warrior code is smart enough to know that we turn away those outsiders, obviously, you’re as dumb as they get. silverfur was not chosen, silverfur disappeared. she was a fraud, she is probably out there with frostclaw right now. where did she go, dearie? she never returned to camp with us. she said calmly, her tail showcasing the clan. they were surrounding them, they were curious as the shrill shrieks of milkfur could be echoed throughout. and silverfur was no where to be seen.

i am ashamed of you ravenpaw for refusing even that. you aren’t even worthy of being a medicine cat. with that, starclan spoke. sparks and flames erupting out of the ground from where milkfur stood, burning her white fur and turning it soot black. the calls of a raven could be heard, echoing through the camp, as the sky blackened over-- showing their displeasement. and ravenpaw smirked. starclan had spoken, she had won.

starclan has spoken, stripping away a medicine cat of her powers? that is unheard of. starclan and i are ashamed of you. you have obviously gotten your non existent powers over your head. have you forgotten? you’re powerless. i am the one who has starclan’s strength behind me, you have nothing. just the words of a crazy queen who abandoned her clan as soon as her words were over. and you, you are not worthy of being leader if you think you can waltz around and tell someone who has more power and more respect than you that you are so above them. you haven’t even been blessed by starclan yet, and do you know why? it is because you do not respect the code or our ancestors, therefore, there is no need for you to lead.

the raven calls grew stronger as ravenpaw walked closer to the leader, her own eyes glinting with amusement as she said in a soft, cheerful voice. until you can prove that you are meant to be a leader, you will be treated as a normal warrior. me? not understand anything-- starclan favors me, child. you see those flames that came from the ground to darken your pelt to a soot grey like mine? you hear the ravens calling? these are signs, of course, i wouldn’t have expected such a simple-minded cat like you to understand. but starclan favors me, starclan is behind my back. after all, i have been chosen to heal and i have taken an oath that starclan has easily shown the signs to. and silverfur? where did she go? she wouldn’t have left if she had nothing to hide-- if she really was a messenger from starclan. you are the one who does not understand. you are willing to ruin the clan blood and break the rules to do your bidding. no one needs a leader like you, we’re better off without one.

she touched her tail to milkfur’s shoulder and meowed smoothly, sickly sweet with a smile on her face, only a disloyal cat would be cruel enough to turn her back on the warrior code and starclan. and that is not me, that is you. not even thunderclan is that pathetic. riverclan does not need someone like you to ruin us.
